Love Letter Box

This is a Handmade Wee box with relief printed branch pattern on the outer paper and and strips of kitakata nested in the inside. The strips have quotes copied from sweet love letters my boyfriend passed me in highschool. I am really happy with how this came out.

The idea for this project started out after seeing pictures of Japanese trees with little paper prayers tied to the branches. I decided I would use quotes from love letters as my "prayers". The idea of tree became a nest and branches are printed on the outside. A few hints of quote are just barely visible when you peer into the box and they curl around to form the nest. This is probably my most personal piece and it is about my boyfriend who has been an amazing and loving element in my life for the last six years.
